About NIST 800-53

Twenty families, 299 active controls

Who it is for

Federal agencies, FedRAMP-seeking SaaS, and contractors who need to show, control by control, where a platform carries the load and where the work stays in their stack.

NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5(official)

NIST SP 800-53 is the control catalog behind FISMA and FedRAMP: the most comprehensive set of security and privacy controls in wide use. Rev 5 organizes its base controls into 20 families spanning governance, technical safeguards, and privacy; 299 are active after it withdrew 23 of the catalogue's 322 slots.

No platform implements all of 800-53: much of it is technical safeguards that live in your own architecture. What a GRC platform does is run the governance, assessment, risk, and documentation layer, and hold the evidence for everything else. The map below is grouped by family and rated at the base-control level so that division is explicit.

Control alignment

Which 800-53 controls Alvor helps you satisfy

All 20 families, every base control rated. Governance families (PM, CA, RA, PL) are where Alvor performs the work; technical families (SC, PE, MP, SI) are where it holds the control and evidence while your stack does the work. Expand any family to see the controls.

Performs

Alvor performs the control or produces the evidence.

Supports

Alvor helps you manage, track, and document it.

Records

You implement it operationally; Alvor stores the control and evidence.

20 families

This mapping shows where Alvor materially contributes to each control. It is a guide for scoping, not an authorization or attestation: responsibility for implementing and operating every control remains with your organization. Ratings reflect Alvor's product capabilities and may differ from your assessed boundary.
